Democrat Sen. [[Tom Udall]] is retiring. The primaries were held on June 2, 2020. Republican [[Mark Ronchetti]] will face Democrat establishment figure [[Ben Ray Luján]] in a contest which could make either candidate a senator for the next six years.
According to [[FEC]] reports, in the 3rd quarter Ronchetti outraised Ben Ray Lujan, with 85% of the Ronchetti's campaign contributions from New Mexicans, while only 25% of the [[establishment]] Democrat's contributions came from New Mexicothe state. Lujan continued to be funded by out-of-state D.C. and coastal [[elitism|elites]], [[super PAC]]s and [[special interests|special interest]] groups.
