The Treaty of Utrecht or Peace of Utrecht where a series of peace negotiations to end the Wars of Spanish Succession in the 18th century (1713). The treaty arranged that the peninsula of Gibraltar and the island of Minorca where given to Britain by Spain.[1] Through the Asiento, Britain gained a 30-year monopoly over the Atlantic slave trade.
