Treaty Clause

The Treaty Clause is Article II, Section 2, clause 2, of the U.S. Constitution:
| “ | The President ... shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur .... | ” |
Convention
At the Constitutional Convention, Founder George Mason held reservations about the power of the senate for making treaties, saying that "He was extremely earnest to take this power from the Senate, who he said could already sell the whole Country by means of Treaties."[1]
