Transactional immunity gives a witness, in exchange for his testimony, immunity from prosecution related to the underlying transactions. A witness enjoys a right not to incriminate himself under the Fifth Amendment. But if he receives transactional immunity protecting him against prosecution, then a court or Congress may compel him to testify.
Transactional immunity is broader than use immunity.
