Thomas Perez

Thomas Edward "Tom" Perez (born October 7, 1961) is an American politician and Chair of the Democratic National Committee since 2017. A member of the Democrat Party, Perez was the United States Secretary of Labor under Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice.

Perez was backed by the Obama/Clinton faction of the Democratic Party running against Rep. Keith Ellison, who was endorsed by Bernie Sanders.

As an indicator of Perez's credibility, he stated in March 2017, in a message directed at President Donald Trump, that the president "didn’t win this election."[1]
