Tea Act

The Tea Act was passed by Parliament in 1773, intended to reduce extensive holdings of tea by the East India Company. The act came several years after the much reviled Stamp Act of 1765, which colonists living in the Thirteen Colonies had not forgotten.

In response, several important protests and demonstrations occurred, such as the Boston Tea Party and the Edenton Tea Party.
