The term Tammany Hall refers to electoral corruption practiced by the Democratic Party, particularly that of New York City from the 1790s until it was crushed by the election of the Republican mayor Fiorella La Guardia in 1934. It draws its name from the headquarters iof the Tammany Society, which controlled patronage and doled out favours to potential Democratic supporters.

By extension, the term is applied to all Democratic electoral corruption.
