Talk:Wife

Return to "Wife" page.

"Role" of the Wife?

"The role of the wife is to maintain the household, bear and raise children, and succour her husband." Please, PLEASE tell me this was written as a joke. --DinsdaleP 09:56, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

The result of this "role" contribution was a lengthy blog attack on Conservapedia. The blogger ignored the reverts by senior sysops and took Bugler's idea as representing the project. [1] --Ed Poor Talk 16:39, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
That's incorrect. He says "...the version of the article that is so at odds with what I think is not the current version. This is arguably to Conservapedia's credit and I'm not condemning them because a previous version of the article was so bizarre." (my emphasis). So he was not attacking us for the idea that Bugler put in. Rather, he was (scurrilously) using that as a launching pad for his actual criticism, trying to denigrate Conservapedia on the grounds that "...for "husband" there were two edits over a span of months while for "wife" there were seventeen edits in four days." (emphasis his). He was trying to invent fault with Conservapedia ("...if there's this much interest in controlling the representation of women on a wiki site, how much control are women subject to in their day-to-day lives?") based on the relative number of edits! Talk about clutching at straws! Philip J. Rayment 23:23, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
