If anyone asks you about gay bashing, you can ask them, "Do you oppose all violence against homosexuals?" Then note whether they condone gay-on-gay violence. --Ed Poor Talk 13:10, 19 November 2008 (EST)

Paul Cameron

Paul Cameron is not respected in his field. I just read that the man got kicked out of the APA in the 1980's. Whether his work is fairly or unfairly being treated is immaterial to whether he is respected. I suggest reading http://www.asanet.org/footnotes/1987/ASA.01.1987.pdf#page=4 to decide whether the man is worthy of respect. I err towards not. He has advocated quarantine of homosexuals which in any interpretation is a violation of personal freedoms. If you want to use this guy as a source, its up to you, but really, this guy clearly has issues. EternalCritic 14:11, 19 November 2008 (EST)

Wrong. They changed the "ethics rules" to require psychologists to endorse homosexuality. So he resigned, and they accepted his resignation. A year later, they "dropped" him. How can you drop someone who already quit? --Ed Poor Talk 14:14, 19 November 2008 (EST)
That still doesn't address the rest of the issues with his methodology and extremist (basically concentration camps) views. EternalCritic 14:18, 19 November 2008 (EST)

I'm still waiting for you to acknowledge the error I just pointed out. Then we'll go on to the next point. --Ed Poor Talk 14:26, 19 November 2008 (EST)

Ok, acknowledged. EternalCritic 14:35, 19 November 2008 (EST)

That leaves methodology and views. What's wrong with his methodology? You have something against taking surveys, I guess. --Ed Poor Talk 14:37, 19 November 2008 (EST)

No, ed. the problem is that his surveys and conclusions are not synchronic. They don't relate to each other. Beyond that some of the questions are clearly biased to preconceived conclusions. the question "When was the last time you read a dirty magazine?" didn't even have the -option- for never. the choices were within a week or within a month. A multiple choice survey on issues like this cannot be representative. EternalCritic 14:51, 19 November 2008 (EST)
