Bush]], for the District of Nevada in October 2005, becoming the state's first [[Hispanic]] federal judge. Sandoval received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the [[University of Nevada ]] in 1986 and his law degree from The [[Ohio State University ]] Moritz College of Law in 1989. Prior to serving as a federal judge, Sandoval was Nevada's Attorney General. Prior to his election as Attorney General, Sandoval served as a member and chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, which oversees Nevada's gaming industry. At age 35, Sandoval was the youngest person ever to serve as the state's chief gaming regulator.
He is currently a candidate for was elected Governor of Nevada in the 2010 election, challenging and will be replacing the Republican incumbent [[Jim Gibbons]]. 
Sandoval has come under some criticism for past stances he has taken in the Republican primary for governor.
