It looks like a bunch of dashes and dots, but in fact it is a [[language]] with its own way of expressing [[word]]s and [[punctuation]]. The most famous Morse Code sequence is "SOS" (---...---). Officially adopted as a distress call in 1908, it replaced the older "CQD".
