Sir Francis Grant

Sir Francis Grant (Edinburgh, 1803 - Melton Mowbray, Leics, 1878) was a Scottish portrait painter. He was president of the Royal Academy from 1866 to 1878. One of the most fashionable portrait painters of his day. His best works are generally considered to be his smaller sporting conversation pieces. [1]
Among his sitters were Sir Walter Scott, Macaulay, Benjamin Disraeli, Palmerston, and Landseer.
