Silvestre Revueltas Sánchez (Santiago Papasquiaro in Durango, 1899 - Mexico City, 1940) was a Mexican composer, violinist and conductor. He studied at the Mexican National Conservatory, and also at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, and at the Chicago College of Music.
His monumental La Noche de los Mayas, with a finale requiring 11 percussionists, has thrilled audiences of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, and the American Composers Orchestra.[1]
