Richard Dale “Rick” Snyder (born August 19, 1958 in Battle Creek, Michigan (age 63)) is a venture capitalist and former Republican Governor of Michigan. Snyder served two terms and was succeeded by liberal Democrat Gretchen Whitmer.
Snyder announced in early September 2020 his endorsement of the senile, cognitively declined Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race over President Trump.[1]
Education and business career
Snyder graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of General Studies degree with high distinction in 1977, a Masters of Business Administration with distinction in 1979, and a Juris Doctor in 1982. After serving as a partner at Coopers & Lybrand he joined Gateway computers in 1991 as Executive Vice President and President and COO of Gateway, Inc. in 1997. He went on to become President and CEO of Avalon Investment, which invested in 24 technology-oriented startup companies.
Governor of Michigan
As a gubernatorial candidate, Snyder was known on the campaign trail as "Rick the Nerd".[Citation Needed] He defeated four candidates in the Republican primary and defeated Lansing Mayor Virgil Bernero with over sixty percent of the vote in the general election.
Among the numerous legislation he signed, on July 11, 2017, Snyder signed a bill into law making female genital mutilation a felony.[2]
After ending his gubernatorial tenure, Snyder expressed support for large refugee and legal immigration levels.[3]
