Rebecca Vitsmun has filed a battery allegation with the police against atheist David Silverman and indicates he caressed her sacrum without her permission (the sacrum is the portion of the lower back that is above the tailbone).[1]

Rebecca Vitsmun is an atheist activist and founder of the atheist organization Secular Relief. According to Vitsum, the mission of Secular Relief is "to guide disaster support through evidence-based practices".[4]

Vitsmun became a public figure after a tornado incident in which she told CNN reporter Wolf Blitzer that she was an atheist when he asked her if she thanked God for her survival.[5]

In October 2019, the atheist David Silverman was hired to be the Executive Director of Atheist Alliance International (AAI) after being fired from the atheist organization American Atheists amidst charges of sexual assault and an allegation financial conflict (see: Firing of David Silverman from the American Atheists organization).[10]

In December 2019, the atheist blogger David G. McAfee reported that David Silverman has been suspended by AAI pending an investigation into an alleged inappropriate touching incident which allegedly occurred against the atheist woman Rebecca Vitsmun[11] Silverman contends that he did not inappropriately touch Rebecca Vitsmun.[12] Rebecca Vitsmun filed a restraining order against Silverman, but the judge denied her petition because the judge did not see a pattern of sexual harassment against her by Silverman.[13] However, Vitsmun has filed a battery charge against Silverman with the police and the case is still pending.[14]
