Racing

Racing is any competition, such as a contest of speed where the competitors try to complete a given task in the shortest amount of time. Typically this involves traversing some distance, such as a foot race, road race or even a sled dog race (see Iditarod).

but it can be any other task, for example the race for the presidency.

The word race can refer to the flow of air that is driven backwards by a ship or aircraft propeller. This is also known as the slipstream.
