Ronald Lee Ermey (better known as R. Lee Ermey) (March 24, 1944-April 15, 2018) was an American actor and former United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant. He is widely known for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in the 1987 film Full Metal Jacket. [1] He is also one of the few conservative celebrities. Many of his roles in movies and on television are often either military personnel or prison guards. On December 29, 2010, he lambasted the liberal Obama administration, calling them out for "bringing the country to its knees" and moving it towards socialism.[2]
