Pogrom

A pogrom (pronounced pah-GRUM) was an organized campaign of violence against Jewish settlements in Russia in the late 1800s.
According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary:
- Etymology: Yiddish, from Russian, literally, devastation
- Date: 1903
- an organized massacre of helpless people; specifically : such a massacre of Jews [1]
