Operation Infektion was a Soviet-era disinformation campaign run in the 1980s to use credible looking doctors to spread false information that HIV/AIDS was formulated at a lab in Fort Detrick.[1]

Theories about the lab-origin of HIV were first promoted by Jakob Segal, who was later outed as a Soviet KGB agent. Additionally, these theories have been promoted by Alan Cantwell, Robert Strecker, Milton William Cooper, Leonard Horowitz, Louis Farrakhan, Frank Zappa, and Infowars.com[2]
