The Old Testament is, in essence, a statement of the prehistory of Jesus Christ. It documents the creation of the world by God, and the tribulations and errors of human beings, in particular His chosen people the Israelites.

Much of the Old Testament is concerned with the misery and sin of the world without the salvation brought by Jesus Christ. In the end, the religious and political systems described by the Old Testament are false and incomplete without their fulfillment by the true Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
