Obtained from | Element 115 must first be made. Atoms of americium are bombarded with ions of calcium in a cyclotron, which produces moscovium. Then, moscovium quickly alpha decays into nihonium. |
Nihonium (oon-oon-TRI-em) is a synthetic element which was recently discovered and given a name in June, 2016. Previously, it had been called "Ununtrium", its atomic number in Latin[1][2]
