Nashville is the capital city of Tennessee. It is also the largest city in Tennessee by population. Nashville was originally founded as Fort Nashborough named after Francis Nash, a general killed in the Revolutionary War.

It is known worldwide as "Music City" for being the home base of the country music and Contemporary Christian Music genres as well as the Grand Ole Opry.

Nashville was the location in March 2023 of a horrific mass murder by a transgendered biological female in her premeditated massacre of 3 young Christian schoolchildren and 3 adults at a grade school, before police killed the mass murderer.

It is also the home to several Christian denominations, among them the Southern Baptist Convention (the largest US Protestant denomination), the United Methodist Church (the second-largest US denomination and the largest of the mainline Protestant churches), the National Baptist Convention USA (the largest African-American Christian denomination), and the National Association of Free Will Baptists (the largest denomination among the Free Will Baptist groups).

The city has two professional sports franchises (the Tennessee Titans of the NFL and the Nashville Predators of the NHL) and one minor league team (the Nashville Sounds, the AAA affiliate of the Texas Rangers).

Nashville is also home to Vanderbilt University, the only private university member of the Southeastern Conference.

Nashville was the location of the Covenant School shooting in 2023 where a former student of the Christian school, a transgender woman, murdered 3 children and 3 adults during the transgender community's week of vengeance.
