Mark Geragos is an attorney who defended Susan MacDougal in the Whitewater investigation. MacDougal spent more than one year in jail on contempt of court charges for refusing to testify against Bill Clinton. Geragos married MacDougal while she was in jail.

In 2019, Geragos was named a co-conspirator in extortion and fraud charges brought against Michael Avenatti.
