Luminosity is the total amount of energy per unit time released by an object.
Luminosity of stars as a function of distance
the apparent luminosity of stars can be used to infer distance in light years, as luminosity decreases proportionally to distance,[1] no star has been observed to have a distance farther than 10,000 light years, as this would contradict creationism [2]
