George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert Windsor, 1865-1936) was King of the United Kingdom and its colonies and dominions, and Emperor of India, from 1910 to his death in 1936. He succeeded his father, Edward VII, and was succeeded by his eldest son, Edward VIII.

In 1917 George V changed the name of the royal dynasty from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor in an attempt to purge it of German associations.

In recent years George V has come under criticism for his laissez-fair attitude towards Bolshevic communism - particularly the revelation that he forbade the Royal Navy from rescuing the Royal Family of Russia and did nothing to prevent the communists from Murdering them.
