Joshua Keck “Josh” Harder (born August 1, 1986 in Turlock, California (age 37)) is a venture capital investor and freshman liberal Democrat currently representing California's 10th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. Harder was elected to the position in the 2018 midterm elections, defeating Republican then-incumbent Jeff Denham by just under 5% of the vote.[2]

Rep. Harder is a member of the New Democrat Coalition, a group of left-wing, phony "moderate" Democrats.

U.S. House of Representatives

2018 election

Harder in early May 2017 his run for the U.S. House from California's 10th district to challenge Republican Jeff Denham for the latter's seat.[3] In the primary election held on June 5, 2018, Denham finished in first place with a plurality of 37.5% of the votes casted, while Harder finished second place with 17%.[4] Under current California state law, all candidates for congressional races compete in a single primary, with the top two performers facing off in the general election.

Having relied heavily on the San Francisco Bay Area for donations and volunteers,[5][6] it was reported in mid-October 2018 that less than 1% of Harder's campaign donations came from the district he was running in.[7] Harder also indirectly took corporate PAC money for his campaign despite saying in an ad that he would refuse money from corporate donors.[8] He ultimately defeated Rep. Denham by a close margin[2] after the latter had pushed for DACA amnesty vote[9] despite opposition to such by constituents.[10] Although Denham initially held a lead,[11] Harder was declared the winner after suspicious "late votes" were counted; similar situations occurred for several other congressional races in California where Republican candidates who initially held leads later "lost".[12]

Tenure

Harder joined all House Democrats in voting in favor of the radical Equality Act.[13]

In July 2019, Harder co-sponsored a Democrat-led resolution to condemn Donald Trump's supposedly "racist" tweets toward the Squad,[14] a clique of four far-left representatives known for bigotry and advocating extreme policies.

Rep. Harder voted against the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019.[15]

Harder voted in mid-December 2019 in favor of H.R.3, an impractical Democrat-led bill that seeks to attempt lowering drug prices merely via government regulations.[16]

Harder voted in favor of the impeachment coup against Donald Trump.[17] In his remark on voting for the sham articles, he claimed to have been "disappointed" in doing so.[18] This was after he and five other Democrats attended an annual White House Christmas party that Trump invited all members of Congress to, including those who had been extremely obsessed with impeaching and removing him.[19]

On February 13, 2020, Harder joined all House Democrats as well as several moderate/liberal Republicans in voting to remove the ratification deadline for the ERA.[20]

Rep. Harder voted in favor of the Great American Outdoors Act.[21]
