Thomas Jonathan “Jon” Ossoff (born February 16, 1987 (age 37)) is a media executive, investigative journalist, and left-wing Democrat currently running in the 2020 U.S. Senate election in Georgia to challenge incumbent Republican David Perdue. He previously ran for United States House of Representatives from the state's 6th congressional district in a 2017 special election to succeed the resigning Tom Price, losing to Republican candidate Karen Handel by a close margin.[1]

Ossoff has been criticized over certain misrepresentations of his national security credentials.[2][3]

Financial disclosures show that Ossoff is tied to a pro-CCP company.[4]

2017 special election

After Tom Price of Georgia's 6th district resigned in February 2017 to join the Trump Administration as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, a special election was triggered to determine who would fill the vacancy until the 2018 Midterms. Ossoff announced in early January 2017 his run for the seat.[Citation Needed]

Under state law, a triggered special election resulting out of the resignation of an incumbent officeholder must take place as a jungle primary, where all candidates appear together on the ballot rather than being sorted by political party. On the initial election held on April 18, no candidate won a majority of the vote, with Ossoff garnering a plurality at 48%;[5] finishing in second place was Karen Handel with just under 20% of the vote. A runoff was thus triggered, with the date set to June 20.

In late June 2020, it was correctly noted by President Trump that Ossoff didn't live in the district he was running from.[6] The latter quickly dismissed the questioning over the matter;[7] he lost the runoff by less than 4 points.[1] While Ossoff performed well in the southern part of the district, Handel capitalized on her strength among voters in the northwestern areas. The election results elicited a meltdown on social media from many Hollywood leftists who hoped for a Democrat victory.[8]

Months after losing the special election runoff, Ossoff re-emerged by unsurprisingly attacking Donald Trump.[9]

Ossoff announced in mid-September 2019 his bid for U.S. Senate.[10]

In April 2020, Ossoff criticized the Paycheck Protection Program for supposedly only benefiting wealthy people; indeed, as reported later in early July, his father's company took hundreds of thousands from the program's loans.[11]

Ossoff has refused to condemn the far-left mob violence that killed 8 year-old Secoriea Turner.[12]

In mid-July 2020, Ossoff echoed a fake claim that President Trump supposedly was supposedly threatening with "retaliation" against a CDC official.[13]

Ossoff claimed in a campaign ad in late September 2020 that he will "defend our Second Amendment";[14] he has an "F" rating from the NRA.[15]

He has indirectly taken money from corporate super PACs he said he would refuse donations from.[16]

Ossoff's campaign field manager admitted, as shown in a late October undercover video by Project Veritas, that he holds progressive viewpoints yet campaigns on a moderate platform to deceive voters.[17]
