Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction

The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, often referred to as a Super Congress is a group that was appointed per the July 2011 debt ceiling legislation that consists of six Republicans and six Democrats to suggest an additional one to two trillion dollars in cuts. The Congressmen were appointed by the Congressional Majority and Minority leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell, John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi. This meeting resulted in absolutely nothing substantive and is merely a showcase of how partisan politics have resulted in a failure to ever reduce and eliminate the deficit.
