Joanne Marie Jorgensen (born May 1, 1957) is an American academic and libertarian political activist. She controversially became the Libertarian Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2020 election, despite losing the state primaries to Jacob Hornberger. Jorgensen was the Libertarian Party nominee for vice-president in the 1996 Presidential Election as the running mate of Harry Browne, and the Libertarian Party nominee for South Carolina's 4th congressional district in 1992. She has been criticised by right-libertarians for her more liberal views on topics such as open borders and abortion. Her running mate for the 2020 U.S. presidential election is Vermin Supreme's former running mate Spike Cohen.
