Jim McGreevey

Jim McGreevey (born 1957) was the Democratic governor of New Jersey from 2002 to 2004. Amid an investigation involving his former aides,[1] McGreevey abruptly resigned from office after announcing that "my truth is that I am a gay American."[2]

McGreevey's second wife stood at his side for this announcement. They subsequently divorced.

A former lobbyist for Merck who had also served as a prosecutor, McGreevey was mayor of Woodbridge before being elected governor in a contest against conservative Bret Schundler.
