The Jelly Belly Candy Company, formerly known as the Herman Goelitz Candy Company, is an American candy company best known for producing their brand of jelly beans. Although this type of candy serves as their signature product, they do make other forms of candy.[1] The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, enjoyed their jelly beans, as he started eating copious amounts of them as a tool to quit pipe and cigar smoking. After his successful bid for the presidency in the 1980 Presidential Election, the company made a new bean for him, which was blueberry flavored to symbolize the colors of the American flag, as the company had already released both red and white jelly beans.[2]
