The gate (torii) of Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima island) is one of Japan's most popular tourist attractions. It is a Shinto shrine.

Miyajima is an island in the Inland Sea of Japan. It is near Hiroshima in front of the main island of Honshu. Miyajima means "shrine island".

Itsukushima Shrine is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The torii (gate) on the water welcomes visitors to the Shrine. The gate dates back to 1168, but the current gate exists since 1875.
