Known as Isabelita, she was vice president of Argentina since 1973 and president after the death of Juan Domingo Perón in 1974 until 1976.

She was married to the former Argentine dictator, Perón.

It was overthrown on March 24, 1976 by the National Reorganization Process. The Armed Forces kept her in detention for five years.

In 1981 she was released and went to live in Spain, where she currently remains.
