  • Greenhouse effect - the earth's atmosphere does retain heat energy, but not the same way as a real greenhouse (see also convection)
  • Ozone hole - there is no hole in the ozone layer, but an annual thinning of 1/3 over Antarctica (then it goes right back to its previous thickness)
