Henry Clarence Dworshak, Jr. (August 29, 1894 – July 23, 1962) was an editor, publisher,[1] and Republican from Idaho who served as the state's U.S. senator from the late 1940s until his death in office at 1962. He previously representing the second congressional district in the House of Representatives for several terms.

U.S. Senate

A strong conservative and ally of Joseph McCarthy, Dworshak was narrowly elected to the United States Senate in the 1950 special election over Democrat Claude J. Burtenshaw,[2] who attacked him as being insufficiently anti-Communist over his vote against the Marshall Plan in addition to opposing foreign aid for Greece and Turkey.[3]
