The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021, H.R. 1280, would bankrupt towns from lawsuits over arrests by removing qualified immunity for police officers. It would also weaken border patrol by reducing the level of intent to be culpable of wrongdoing to merely alleged recklessness rather than wilfulness.

In 2021, this bill passed the House by a vote of 220 to 212, on party lines.
