Essay: Why does the president of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte require Philippine citizens to wear a mask and a face shield and the wimpy Anthony Fauci not stress wearing a mask and a face shield?

Donald Trump clearly has more machismo in this picture - despite Fauci trying to compensate by using hand gestures.

There is much more protection from the coronavirus pandemic offered by wearing a mask and a face shield rather than just wearing a mask. The eyes are a vector for getting Covid-19 plus a face shield prevents people from touching their face/eyes/nose/lips. This is why wearing a mask and a face shield is far superior than merely wearing a mask.

And many mask wearers are sloppy. For example, when I go to stores, there are workers/shoppers not putting their mask over their nose.

Face shields are cheap. You can by them for around $5.00 a piece.

Anthony Fauci was derelict in his duty by not telling people about the benefits of wearing a mask as well as a face shield (and not merely a mask).

The Philippines Airlines is very smart. Philippines Airlines says All passengers must wear face shields and face masks.

"The Philippines have introduced a new rule forcing everyone in the country to wear a face shield, as well as a face mask, while out in public."[1]

The answer to this question is very obvious. Duterte has more machismo!

It takes guts to demand that the citizens of a whole country wear a mask and a face shield.

Sadly, the pantywaist Anthony Fauci lacks the intestinal fortitude to talk about the benefits of wearing a mask as well as a face shield to the American public. Anthony Fauci merely has enough machismo to ask people to wear a mask. Señor Anthony Fauci has muy pequeño (very little) machismo!

Covid-19: Double masking combined with a face shield vs. merely using one mask

Below is data/studies regarding the effectiveness of masks, double masking and wearing a mask as well as a face shield.

I realize that science is based on replicating studies, but I will share a Stanford University anti-masking study even though I disagree with its findings:

“ The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective of viral and infectious disease such as SARS-CoV-2 and COVID -19...

According to the current knowledge, the virus SARS-CoV-2 has a diameter of 60 nm to 140 nm [nanometers (billionth of a meter)] [16], [17], while medical and non-medical facemasks’ thread diameter ranges from 55 µm to 440 µm [micrometers (one millionth of a meter), which is more than 1000 times larger. Due to the difference in sizes between SARS-CoV-2 diameter and facemasks thread diameter (the virus is 1000 times smaller), SARS-CoV-2 can easily pass through any facemask."[2]

“ What does this imply for the ability of masks to impede COVID-19 transmission? The virus itself is only about 0.1 µm in diameter. But because viruses don’t leave the body on their own, a mask doesn’t need to block particles that small to be effective. More relevant are the pathogen-transporting droplets and aerosols, which range from about 0.2 µm to hundreds of micrometres across. (An average human hair has a diameter of about 80 µm.) The majority are 1–10 µm in diameter and can linger in the air a long time, says Jose-Luis Jimenez, an environmental chemist at the University of Colorado Boulder. “That is where the action is.”

In a review of observational studies, an international research team estimates that surgical and comparable cloth masks are 67% effective in protecting the wearer."[3]

Healthline.com: "Researchers found that when a cough was simulated, the double mask blocked 85.4 percent of the aerosol particles. This is compared to 51.4 percent and 56.1 percent for the cloth and surgical mask, respectively."[4]

As far as shopping, I have been double masking and wearing a face shield for some time now.

Infection Control Today: "Wearing a surgical mask along with a face shield affords health care professionals only statistically insignificant better protection against aerosolized particles than wearing a surgical mask alone, according a study in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC)"[5]

Wayne State University, School of Medicine News:

“ Studies conducted by Wayne State University School of Medicine physician-researchers indicate that the use of plastic face shields with surgical masks provides the best protection against COVID-19 infection, but combining the two made little difference over the use of masks alone...

“This simulation indicates that surgical masks worn by all are more likely to provide significant protection to uninfected participants in indoor conversations,” Dr. Chopra said. “The role of the face shields in preventing transmission is not supported, and if transmission via the eyes is felt to be a significant factor, such as with health care workers and dentists and dental technicians, goggles might provide better protection than a face shield.”[6]

Starting today, if I go shopping, I am wearing two masks, a face shield and swim goggles!

As you can see, truly macho government officials wear hazmat suits to protect themselves from coronavirus infections: Putin dons hazmat suit, as Russia admits virus numbers likely far higher. Wimpy Joe Biden merely wears a big, black mask. Frail Joe Biden couldn't carry the extra weight of wearing a hazmat suit nor could he remember how to take it off!

Toughen up mask whiners!

There is too much whining about wearing masks. Even though my second Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine kicks fully in next week, I will still wear a mask and face shield when shopping because the vaccines are not 100% protection. It takes seconds to put on a mask and face shield. Once the pandemic is over, I will stop wearing a mask and face shield when shopping.

Compare the minor inconvenience of wearing a mask and face shield, with WWII London and having your home flattened by aerial bombing. Or compare mask and face shield wearing during the coronavirus pandemic to the Black Plague that killed 30-60 percent of Europe.

Wearing a mask and face shield during a pandemic is a trivial matter if you compare it to having your Hiroshima home flattened by a nuclear bomb! Wearing a mask and face shield is a minor inconvenience when you compare it to having your home set ablaze during the American Revolutionary War or the American Civil War.

Toughen up mask whiners! I am sick of hearing your bellyaching!

And remember, during the Black Plague wearing a mask and face shield wasn't even an option. Thank God for masks and face shields!

The Philippines is ranked the 168th out of 191 countries as far as having an obesity problem - which is relatively low.[7]

The United States has the 12th highest rate obesity rate compared to 191 countries.[8]

Patients with obesity are at high risk of mortality from a Covid-19 infection.[9]

If only Anthony Fauci had the guts to forcefully tell American, fat women to jog around the block and push themselves away from the table so they could have a lower mortality risk from Covid-19 and could also look more like slim, Filipina ladies.

Philippine Star on Dr. Vladimir Zelenko's coronavirus treatment

Dr. Zelenko has successfully used hydroxychloroquine (chemical diagram shown), antibiotics and zinc to treat coronavirus patients.

Zev Vladimir Zelenko, M.D. is a New York State doctor who has treated over 1,450 coronavirus patients using hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc sulfate with 99.9% success rate (2 deaths).[12] He explained his treatment in an open letter to President Trump.

With his first 350 coronavirus patients in March of 2020, Zelenko had a 100% success using hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and zinc.[13] There were no hospitalizations, intubations or deaths among Zelenko's first 350 patients.[14] On March 27, 2020, Zelenko indicated that he treated 699 patients with no deaths or intubations, whereas the national average in the United States is 1.5% of coronavirus patients dying.[15] As of March 27, 2020, four patients of Dr. Zelenko have been hospitalized with pneumonia, and none of them required respirators.[15]

Dr. Vladimir Zelenko's treatment resulted in various patients' shortness-of-breath issues being resolved in as early as four hours and on average 12 hours.[16]

“ REGARDING Vladimir Zelenko, the 46-year-old family doctor who gained attention after he reported a 100-percent COVID-19 recovery score, here is a part of his March 23 open letter “to all medical professionals around the world” (copy sent to President Trump):

“My name is Dr. Zev Zelenko and I practice medicine in Monroe, NY. For the last 16 years, I have cared for approximately 75 percent of the adult population of Kiryas Joel, which is a very close-knit community of approximately 35,000 people in which the infection spreads rapidly and unchecked prior to the imposition of social distancing.

“As of today my team has tested approximately 200 people from this community for COVID-19, and 65 percent of the results have been positive. If extrapolated to the entire community, that means more than 20,000 people are infected at the present time. Of this group, I estimate that there are 1,500 patients who are in the high-risk category (i.e. >60, immunocompromised, comorbidities, etc).

“Given the urgency of the situation, I developed the following treatment protocol in the pre-hospital setting and have seen only positive results:

1. Any patient with shortness of breath regardless of age is treated.

2. Any patient in the high-risk category even with just mild symptoms is treated.

3. Young, healthy and low-risk patients even with symptoms are not treated (unless their circumstances change and they fall into category 1 or 2).

“My out-patient treatment regimen is as follows:

1. Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for five days.

2. Azithromycin 500mg once a day for five days.

3. Zinc sulfate 220mg once a day for five days. [Editor's note: 50mg of elemental zinc, as it is commonly sold as a vitamin, is the equivalent of 220mg of zinc sulfate]

“The rationale for my treatment plan is as follows. I combined the data available from China and South Korea with a recent study published from France (cites available on request). We know that hydroxychloroquine helps Zinc enter the cell. We know that Zinc slows viral replication within the cell. Regarding the use of azithromycin, I postulate it prevents secondary bacterial infections. These three drugs are well known and usually well-tolerated, hence the risk to the patient is low.

“Since last Thursday, my team has treated approximately 350 patients in Kiryas Joel and another 150 patients in other areas of New York with the above regimen.

“Of this group and the information provided to me by affiliated medical teams, we have had ZERO deaths, ZERO hospitalizations, and ZERO intubations. In addition, I have not heard of any negative side effects other than approximately 10 percent of patients with temporary nausea and diarrhea.

“In sum, my urgent recommendation is to initiate treatment in the outpatient setting as soon as possible in accordance with the above. Based on my direct experience, it prevents acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), prevents the need for hospitalization and saves lives.”[17]

On May 30, 2020, the Grand Rapids Herald-Review stated:

“ Dr. Vladimir Zelenko serves as a Primary Care Physician in suburban New York City—the epicenter of this outbreak. “I knew that the virus would hit our area hard due to our population density—we have 32,000 people living in one square mile. So I did my own research looking at what had been done in other countries that experienced the virus before us as well as looking at treatments developed for the SARS outbreak in 2003 (another coronavirus). I developed my own protocol of a three drug cocktail: HCL, Azithromycin, and Zinc. In the last few weeks I have seen 1,450 patients with COVID symptoms. I divided my patients into two groups: high risk and low risk. The low risk patients (under age 60 and healthy) statistically get better without treatment, so I sent them home to rest and get over the virus. I gave my drug cocktail to 405 high risk patients (over age 60 or with underlying health problems) whose conditions were most severe. The accepted rate of COVID mortality at that time for high risk patients was 5%, so if I had just relied on ventilators I could have expected to see 20 of my patients die. But using these three drugs I only lost two patients, one of which was very old and had been chronically ill. This was a significant order of magnitude better than expected outcomes.”

Dr. Zelenko explains the rationale behind his treatment program. “The zinc is what kills the virus and zinc occurs naturally in the body but has a hard time penetrating the cell where the virus lives. What the hydroxychloroquine does is open a channel into the cell so the zinc can enter and stop the virus from replicating. Adding an extra dose of zinc to the cocktail has been shown to improve outcomes by about 25%. Meanwhile, the azithromycin stands guard to combat any secondary bacterial infection that may crash the party and cause pneumonia.”

After seeing the effectiveness of his treatment regimen, Dr. Zelenko stated, “I realized what I had, and I felt like a front line soldier who had stumbled across some very important intelligence—some valuable information that needed to be communicated to the 5-star general because that information could be used to win the war.”

Within a few weeks, Dr. Zelenko had published video reports of his findings and was in touch not only with the US Coronavirus Taskforce, but with over a dozen governments around the world from Russia, to South Africa, to Peru. Four weeks ago the government of Brazil began implementing Dr. Zelenko’s protocol, and he explains their results: “One week ago the Brazilians published a study revealing a 95% reduction in deaths after this drug cocktail was introduced for use in their government hospitals.”[18]
