Classical music

Songs "Classical" Artist Comments- Billboard Rank Subgenre
Messiah George Frideric Handel The classic oratorio, especially popular around Christmastime, praises the Son who saved humanity by telling the stories of the Prophets who foretold his coming to earth, the annunciation to the shepherds of Christ's birth, the Passion of Christ, and finally the resurrection of the dead and Christ's glorification in heaven. N/A Baroque Era

Latin Jazz/Salsa

I have included this because most salsa music tells of the hardships experienced by the singer, and his faith in God and his hard work to find a better life - the very essence of the American Dream

Songs "Latin Jazz" Artist Comments- Subgenre
"Mi Gente" Hector Lavoe This song is a patriotic ode to the singer's country (in this case Puerto Rico, but the lyrics are ambiguous enough for any country). Also, the first line contains a satirical comment (cuidado, ahi vene los abnormales!/be careful, here comes the deplorables!), showing how the singer's people are called 'abnormales' and so qualifies as Conservative, as conservatives have been called deplorables by the Clintons 1970s
"Pedro Navaja" Ruben Blades Emphasizes the importance of policeforce. Also, unlike liberals, takes an optimistic and Christ-centered look at life by seeing hardships as 'sopresas' (surprises). Also, the chorus sings (in English)

"I like to live in America".

1970s
"El Dia de Mi Suerte" Hector Lavoe The singer recounts his hardships in life, but announces his intention to work hard and continue trusting in God for a better life. 1970s
"Abuelita" Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe A homage to the sayings ('refranos') of Latin grandparents, that communicated conservative values. Also underlines the importance of listening to the older family members, and your parents. 1970s
"El Todopoderso" Hector Lavoe A Spanish hymn, to the Latin Jazz tune, praises the Son, Jesus Christ, the Almighty ("Todopoderso"), and his great and powerful victory on the Cross. Tells how Christ is the only one who can save us from a self-centered, liberal, view, and how our problems in life can only be solved by Him. Praises God for his perfection, conservatism, and honesty, in contrast to people's self-centeredness. 1970s
"El Watusi" Ray Barreto Celebrates pre-Castro Cuba (although written in the 1960s) by telling the story of "El Watusi". Bongaloo

Debatable Whether Conservative

Included among the top five in a poll of the greatest songs in the 20th century, according to the Recording Industry Association of America and the NEA, are the following:

  • "Over the Rainbow" (Judy Garland)
  • "White Christmas" (Bing Crosby)
  • "Respect" (Aretha Franklin)
  • "American Pie" (Don McLean)

Also questionable:

  • "Born in the U.S.A." (Bruce Springsteen) - the title and refrain appears to be pro-American, but some of the lyrics are not
  • "Glory Days." (Bruce Springsteen) - the song talks about the good old days of the American Dream
  • "Hammer to Fall" (Queen) - talks about being hopeful for the Soviet Union falling
  • "Rocky Raccoon" (The Beatles) - has multiple references to Gideon's Bible
  • "Taxman" (The Beatles) - protests against the tax grabs of British Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson, but the band's members themselves were espousing liberal views at the time; at least one of the surviving members, Paul McCartney, continues to do so today.
  • "Been to Hell" (Hollywood Undead)-Despite the large amount of swearing, it talks about the destructive nature of Hollywood, including how Hollywood and the quest for fame can cause someone to lose their faith. It also criticizes Hollywood values.
  • "Only the Good Die Young" (Billy Joel)-a boy tries to convince a Catholic girl to have sex with him rather than practice abstinence. Although it contains a lot of anti-religious dialogue (from the boy's perspective), in the end the girl holds true to her values, and nothing happens between them.
  • "Still the One" by Orleans - a very good song about marital fidelity. However, one of the singers, John Hall, later became a Democratic Congressman from New York and sued Republican presidential candidate John McCain over the use of the song
  • "My Sweet Lord" (George Harrison) - Love for religion and having a relationship with God even uses hallelujah, though many Hindu undertones; Harrison also unconsciously plagiarized two other songs, the Chiffons' 1963 doo-wop song "He's So Fine" and the Edwin Hawkins Singers' 1967 gospel song "Oh Happy Day", in writing his song.
  • "Where is the Love" (Black Eyed Peas) - Main message questioning why are people ignoring their Christian beliefs, and asking for Help from church and God. Condemns both racism, and terrorism, and also claims the idea of joining gangs and doing drugs is wrong. However it also dis promotes the idea of war, and promotes peace making.
  • "Grow a Pear" (Kesha) -Song's message is manning up, but the singer Kesha is a pro-LGBT homosexual agenda activist.
  • "All My Friends (Snakehips)" - the song's message is how terrible clubs actually are, instead of the hype that's falsely given to them. However, the song is explicit. Sample lyric: "All my friends are wasted, and I hate this club and I drink too much; another Friday night I've wasted.."
  • "Stranger in Moscow ." (Michael Jackson) - the song criticizes communism
