Edom

Edom in the Bible is a name for Esau and his descendant nation. Esau had five sons to carry on his name.[1]
The nation existed as long ago as the 11th century B.C., but disappeared sometime during the Jewish-Roman Wars. The Hebrew word 'Edom' (אדם or אדום) means 'red' or 'red stuff', and is a reference to the red stew that Esau asked of Jacob in exchange for Esau's birthright.[2]
Edom had kings before the nation of Israel. The following is the early line of the kings of Edom:[3]

- Hada (son of Bedad)

- Baal-Hanan (son of Acbor)
