East Anglia is an area of Eastern England, located to the east of the Midlands, and to the north/north east of London, forming the "Rump" of Great Britain. The Counties of Norfolk and Suffolk formed the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of East Anglia. The traditional region also includes Cambridgeshire and North Essex. The area is largely rural without any large urban areas but the County Towns, Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge, along with Colchester in Essex all have population in excess of 100 000. The areas should not be confused with the larger East of England region of England of which East Anglia forms a part.
