Disneyland is a recreational theme park located in Anaheim, California (USA). The park, which opened in 1955, was created by Walt Disney, and took one year to build, at a total cost of 17.5 million dollars. [1]

When the park first opened, there were 18 rides or "attractions" contained in the themed areas within the park: Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, and Main Street, U.S.A. Newer rides and themed areas have been added over the years, and there are currently more than 60 attractions. [2]

Many rides incorporate characters from Disney cartoons and movies, and popular Disney characters can be seen in the park, including Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. [3] Disneyland calls itself "the happiest place on earth" [4] There is also a larger Disney themed park in Florida called Disney World [5]
