Court is an agency in government to which the administration of justice is delegated, where judgments are made and punishments are imposed. The word can also refer to the hall, building, or other place where all this takes place.

A court can also be the residence or establishment of a sovereign, the place where the formal assembly of his councillors and officers meet for administrative deliberation, constituting the governing power. The word can also refer to the social life revolving around a sovereign.
