I just wanted to say you folks had a great day. Solid team performance like this and we'll take this contest handily! Again, great day everybody. It feels good to be a part of a devoted group of individuals who are so professionel, so solid in their output. I think if we repeat today's work over the next few days team SS is going to produce a solid piece of work! Good job folks! [[User:Mathers|ItMathers]] 00:11, 13 November 2007 (EST)

Introductories

Very...erm...interesting page! :P --~BCSTalk2ME 15:06, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Haha, yeah, it's temporary - but since the contest had started - and since the other team had a page, I just thought I'd do a quick 2 minute one and then someone else could fancy it up later --IDuan 16:38, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Short "Most Wanted" Page Entries

How did SSchultz do 101 "most wanted" entries, for a total of 303 points, when the total number of 'most wanted" entries is less than two-dozen the total at the beginning of the contest?--Aschlafly 18:53, 12 November 2007 (EST)
Hmm, good question. I mean, the only way to figure out if the entries are legit is to go through them and see how many pages have 5 or more pages that link to them - but from a quick check I think all of them are accurate - though feel free to check more thoroughly.--IDuan 18:57, 12 November 2007 (EST)
It's bogus. Consider this a formal challenge to SSchultz's point tallies.--Aschlafly 19:04, 12 November 2007 (EST)
I think I see how it happened ... the template that I presume SSchultz created linked to all of those articles, so by putting the template on only 5 pages - then each of those 5 pages would link to every other article on the template - thus putting them on the most wanted list. Hmmm ... --IDuan 19:08, 12 November 2007 (EST)
I just saw a user decided not to add the multiplier as "most wanted" pages to those pages created by SSchultz, and made most wanted only by his template. I think that's a good outcome. Otherwise, I would see the "most wanted" multiplier of inviting bootstrapping - you know, create a "most wanted" page just to cure it - and I think that leads to the opposite outcome that the contest creator intended.-MexMax 20:04, 12 November 2007 (EST)
  • What is "bogus" is creating a hidden space for one team, and not the other. What is indeed bogus is giving night editing to members of your team who didn't have it, but refusing to grant the same courtesy to the other team when it was requested, and even though every Sysop here would be patrolling their every move. And it is indeed bogus to make such challenges when the person making the challenges allowed the entire ships registry of the United States Navy to be copied to CP, even though those articles are of dubious benefit to this encyclopedia, and forced others to spend countless hours adding the needed links and categories to them, after the previous contest ended. Please don't be posting publicly as you have done, before contacting the person and asking for an explanation privately. It shows a lack of respect for others. --şyŝoρ-₮K/Ṣρёаќǃ 19:29, 12 November 2007 (EST)
Actually - Andy, thanks for making me look over it another time. I changed the label from most wanted to "Short Pages" and then noticed something. Schultz multiplied by 3 - and gave himself 303 points. In reality - assuming he thought the pages were most wanted - he should have multiplied by 7. However, given your objections, I merely changed it to 4 - since the number of points per short new entry is 4 - which still gave him more points than before. I'm leaving it up to him whether to change it to seven or not though - but regardless, we wind up better either way - so thanks!--IDuan 19:58, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Sorry I organized poorly Iduan :-) -MexMax 20:10, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Haha, don't worry about it - you did fine except for 2--IDuan 20:11, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Copying Pages

Hello all, I also wanted to raise another controversial issue. Andy has said - and I respect this conclusion - that the goal of the contest should be to encourage results, to improve the encyclopedia, rather than effort. However, I'd like to add another way of looking at this issue. I believe that defining "results" as just "pages created" ignores the quality and distinctiveness aspect of Conservapedia. The reason I came to this site is because it's so unique; where else will you see content written by conservatives for conservatives, like this? I'm of the mind that our rules, accordingly, should encourage original creation of content far-and-away above copied content. Please don't construe this conclusion as "sour grapes" due to SSchultz's commanding lead, either - I'm about to do a copy/paste run myself :-).-MexMax 20:04, 12 November 2007 (EST)

While I have always used the old fashioned hand typing method, it has been a regular part of past contests to do cut and paste from outside websites where there is no copyright. The difference with this contest, that I see, is that SSchultz has raised it to a new level of efficiency. I'd imagine there will be rule changes afterwards, but let's be careful that he doesn't get raised eyebrows right now just because he's been better at it than anyone else. Touche! Ought we give more points to original hand typed entries though?-MexMax 20:48, 12 November 2007 (EST)
