Chess as art

Streaming chess has elevated it to an entertaining art form, beyond competitions. Chess streaming is among the most popular shows on twitch, the video service that features streaming mostly of games.

Chess is also featured in paintings dating back to at least the 16th century, as well as literature and plays. The Tempest (1610) by William Shakespeare[1] and Endgame (1957) by Samuel Beckett feature chess.

The classic Through the Looking-Glass, the popular sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, is based on chess pieces.
