Charles R. Van Hise

Charles Richard Van Hise was a progressive academic who created the Wisconsin Idea while serving as president of the University of Wisconsin, from 1903 to 1918. In 1912 he served as an advisor to Theodore Roosevelt in his third presidential bid,[1][2] and Roosevelt held Hise's book Concentration and Control in very high regard.[3]
Van Hise was a firm believer in the primacy of the progressive Administrative State.
