The Brownshirts is a nickname given to fascists in Germany prior to World War II, specifically to the Sturmabteilung or SA, of Storm Troopers. They were originally the parliamentary, rather than military, wing of the Nazi Party. the name is based simply on the colour of their uniforms. The term is sometimes erroneously broadened to include all Nazis and even all fascists, although strictly speaking Italian fascists were Blackshirts, for similar reasons of their uniform. [1]
