Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc.

In firearms terminology, brass refers to the shell of an ammunition cartridge.

Red brass

Red brass (also called Gunmetal) is an alloy of copper, zinc and tin. It was formerly used for making guns. It is now used for making water and steam fittings.[1]
