Boeing AH-64 Apache
The Boeing AH-64 Apache is a twin-engine, four-blade, attack helicopter that is one of the fastest and stealthiest military helicopters in the world. Apache helicopters weigh 8 tons, but they can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds which is faster than a Porsche Boxster sports car. This is accomplished by means of their 1,800 horsepower turboshaft engines made by General Electric.
Apaches are typically equipped with a 30 millimeter cannon, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. The Apache also has a significant amount of armor and system redundancy which helps it sustain heavy attacks. In addition, a shield separates the two pilots so that at least one pilot is likely to survive an engagement.[1]
Because the Apache is a very versatile and sophisticated attack helicopter, aggressive individuals who can handle multiple complex systems are recruited to be pilots.
