‘’’Ben-Hur (2016 film)’’’ was the third movie version, and the second remake, by MGM of the classic novel by General Lew Wallace having the same name. MGM's first two movie versions were blockbuster successes, while this third one was a bust at a massive financial loss of $100 million or so. It was generally panned by movie critics and by trolls on the Rotten Tomatoes website, perhaps in part due to the pro-Christian theme of the movie.
