Arlington is a city in Texas, and has a population of 367,000. It is located between Dallas and Fort Worth.

It is best known as the home of Six Flags Over Texas, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. General Motors has a major assembly plant in the city, its main plant which builds its SUV's.

In terms of academic offerings, it is home to The University of Texas at Arlington, the second-largest of the University of Texas System campuses (with the potential to be its largest). Arlington Baptist University, founded by the late fundamentalist J. Frank Norris, is located on the far west side of the city.

Ranking Among the Most Conservative American Cities

It is fourteenth in the list of most conservative American cities and the fourth most conservative among Texas' big cities.[1]

The ranking is surprising given the presence of a large public university and the city's ethnic diversity (the city has large areas dominated by Democrat-voting minority groups).
